Hello, hope spring has arrived in your city! Jean Okimoto here today - we can't decide whether it's winter or spring in Seattle - so I'm skipping ahead to summer with a bright butterfly card.
Everyone loves the beautiful card that Dave Brethauer designed to introduce the Spring 2015 Collection.. I'll admit that I loved his watercolored, layered design so much I just copied it!
Here's Dave's original design...isn't it beautiful?
- NEW Reverse Butterfly Collage Die 99145
- Open Studio Stitched Rectangle Layers Die Set 30009
- Darla Butterfly Die 98264
- Isabella Butterfly Die 98507
- NEW Follow Your Bliss Stamp B2060
Brush water onto watercolor paper and paint it with Peerless Watercolors. Air-dry it for about 5 minutes while the colors mix and mingle - then press it with a dry iron on the cotton setting. Cut Reverse Butterfly Collage from textured white cardstock.
Here's a tip - attach the diecut layer to the watercolored paper - then cut both of them at once with the Stitched Rectangle Layer. Everything lines up perfectly and you have nice, neat edges.
Another time-saving tip - attach Scor-Tape behind gold mirror cardstock, then cut the antennae. Cut the Darla and Isabella Butterflies from glassine (or a glassine envelope) - and use the adhesive-backed antennae to attach the butterflies to the background.
Stamp Follow Your Bliss with Golden Glitz.

Special thanks to everyone who took my His and Hers class at Impress! Hope you enjoyed creating cards featuring the Spring Release as much as I did designing them for you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again this Saturday at the Die-Versions class at the Tukwila Impress. We'll push our favorite dies to their max and use them in different ways stencil, deboss, emboss and creatively cut some great accents for cool, contemporary cards. Lots of techniques - I've counted 14 of them - to add to your creative repertoire!
Thanks for stopping by - see you again this evening!
