Each year I give my three children their own special ornament for the Christmas tree.  Some have been purchased, but many are handmade.  Here is a preview of the ornaments they will be receiving this holiday season. Ssshhh...don't tell.

I had a lot of fun decorating these glass ornaments using several of the Design Adhesives from Clearsnap and Memory Box.  They work great with flocking, glitter and foils.  If you want a quick review of how the Design Adhesives work and some other neat project ideas, check out the video tutorial by Laura Fulcher.  It was my inspiration for making these ornaments.

The snowflake ornament was my first attempt. I used the large snowflake from the Flurries! set with a Plum Crazy Foil sheet by Clearsnap and added white Pearls from Memory Box to the center and the tips. On the back I added several of the smaller flakes from the same set and finished it with Flower Soft's Faux Snow inside the ornament. Create a hanger from your favorite ribbon and it's a ready for the tree! This whole project took less than fifteen minutes. The Design Adhesives worked so well on the curved glass surface and the foil stuck so nicely. I was instantly hooked and couldn't wait to make more.

Here are some of the products I used for all of my ornaments:

Design Adhesives:  Winter Wonderland, Flurries!, In The Forest, Oh Joy!, Fright NightFrosted Lace Stickles from Ranger, red and green Flocking from Stampendous, Clearsnap Foil Sheets, Clearsnap Sparkle Fibers in Lipstick and Champagne, Faux Snow from Flower Soft, a variety of Memory Box Jewels, Memory Box White Pearls, red, green, gold & silver glitter from Art Institute, Copic markers and various ribbons- the red bow is from a May Arts holiday ribbon.

I had a lot of fun making this one. I started with the row of trees from the Winter Wonderland Design Adhesive set and added green glitter. I put a star from the Fright Night set at the top of each tree and glittered them in gold. The trees were embellished with a variety of Memory Box Jewels. On the back side of this glass ornament I used the deer image from the Winter Wonderland set with Clersnap's Goldmine Foil sheet. To finish it off I removed the ornament crown and added faux snow from Art Institute to the inside.  I really like this one because it looks like the deer is running behind the trees in this picture. When you turn it around, it looks like the trees are in the background and the deer is the focus.  Fun!

I used the Oh Joy! set to make this snowman ornament. I covered the snowman in silver glitter and used the Copic markers to make a hat, stick arms, and a face. (Check Sue's tutorial about making glitter ball ornaments where she has tips for using Copic markers to color the crown around the top of the ornament.) I added an 1/8 inch strip of scor-tape across the hat with green glitter, I gave him a red flocked scarf, and finally, I added a red glittered bird from the In the Forest Design Adhesive set. Just a few mini snowflakes from the Flurries! set  were also added around the snowman's head, and a "dusting" of snow created with Frosted Lace Stickles at his feet. Inside the ornament I put a mixture of Clearsnap's Lipstick and Champagne Sparkle Fibers for added interest. On the backside I added three trees with green flocking and one red glittered bird, both are also from the In The Forest set.

If you are planning to create some handmade gifts this holiday season, be sure to check out the many different sets of Design Adhesives that coordinate with Memory Box images. They are so easy to use and very versatile on many surfaces.  You'll quickly make elegant gifts that will dazzle your family and friends.
