Hello Friend by Sherry Hester

Greetings from sunny and very hot (and humid) Southern California!

It’s always fun to surprise a friend with a “just because” card to let them know they’re special, and today’s card would do just that. Hello Friend - 1

I love using 100 lb. white card stock to cut almost all of my dies. It’s sturdy, especially for the delicate dies, and it’s fun to sponge favorite colors onto the solid die cuts. And I love the clean and simple look of white.

So to begin, I cut a piece of white card stock cut to 3.75” x 5”. I sponged Faded Jeans Distress Ink ever so lightly on the left side of the card, fading it out towards the edges. I splattered the same color ink onto the entire background.

I die cut the Honeycomb Background from white card stock and snipped away in random fashion a lot of the die cut, leaving enough to adhere over the sponged area.

I next cut two of the Climbing Vines from white card stock and sponged Peeled Paint on the stems. On the leaves, I shaded the ink upwards from the bottom of each one, then used a stylus to shape each leaf.

The brand new Bird Sanctuary stamp set and matching dies are fabulous!! I chose one of the birds, and thank you, Laura, for the wonderful tutorial the other day on how to match up the stamps to the dies. What a time-saver! Once the bird was stamped in Versamark Onyx Black, I used a paper towel to remove the black from the branch and sponged Gathered Twigs there instead. I sponged Faded Jeans on the bird’s wings, and Seedless Preserves onto its belly along with some clear glitter, because every bird needs a little bling, right?

I inked the sentiment in Onyx Black and stamped where shown. I adhered the vines and popped the bird with foam tape. The assembled piece was then adhered with foam tape onto an A2 white card base, and that finished the card!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and if it's hot where you are, drink lots of water and stay cool!!!
