Riverbank Oval Cards with Wave Ribbon Collage, Floating Swan, and Birthday Jotted Script or Flitter Side Butterfly by Anne Thompson

Another gorgeous day today and new Memory Box dies to play with--what more could one ask for!  I made two cards that feature the RIVERBANK OVAL 94010 as a frame added on top of the WAVE RIBBON COLLAGE 94005 where the FLOATING SWAN 94012 rests.

Let's talk about the birthday card on the left first.

  • I started with a Pool notecard and die cut the WAVE RIBBON COLLAGE 94005 into the front of the card.
  • I die cut the RIVERBANK OVAL 94010 from dark brown cardstock and used a glue pen on the top and bottom edges to add it to the notecard.
  • I used white cardstock to cut out the FLOATING SWAN 94012.  I put a thin line of glue on its bottom front edge and slipped it behind one of the waves to adhere it to the card.
  • I then added a piece of Pool Gingham Paper cut 4 X 5 1/4 to the inside of the notecard on the righthand panel.
  • Using the BIRTHDAY JOTTED SCRIPT 94003,  I cut the solid greeting from the dark brown cardstock and used the smaller script die to cut into the pool gingham paper.  I layered them together using the glue pen and adhered it to the card front.
  • When writing on the gingham paper inside, I'll need to remember not to write where the waves are as anything in that space will show when the card is closed.

I assembled the second card in the same way except I used the FLITTER SIDE BUTTERFLY 94002 instead of the birthday greeting.  I cut the solid wings part of the butterfly from the gingham paper and the more detailed outline from the dark brown cardstock.  I used a glue pen to adhere the two pieces together and then used a foam dot to add it to the card front.

These dies make great cards for me to send as reminders to others of this special place where I live.  We have Canada Geese and many varieties of ducks in our pond (though we've never had a swan) and eventually the cattails will grow on the banks.  There are lots of butterflies and dragonflies about during the day and fireflies in the evening now.  I know these dies are going to be used over and over again!

Happy Crafting!
