I keep a nature journal, recording my observations of the natural world here at Jungle Lane in Maine. (Our road is named Jungle Lane because for thirty years my parents did wildlife rehab here as Jean's Jungle.) So many of the Memory Box stamps look like what I see in my yard and the surrounding woods. I decided to see if I could create a nature journal entry using Memory Box stamps. I also wanted to make a sample for today's class at Your Maine Stamper using the cropping an image technique. This is my final product:
Stamps:
F1402 Brilliant Maple combined with D1099 Maple Branch
D1277 Tree Border combined with C141 Lg. Oak Leaf
F1413 Birch Trees combined with G1720 Birch Branch Print
D1298 Pine Border combined with D1417 Pine Branch
I worked on a large piece of smooth watercolor paper and used Archival inks in sepia, olive, and jet black. I combined two stamps to represent each tree to create a sort of a tree and leaf identification image. I then cropped each image to a 2" square and labeled each one using a Tombow black fine point pen. I mounted each image on black cardstock and trimmed really close, then placed them on a Moss notecard. I added an extra piece of white on black at the top so I can write in or stamp the appropriate sentiment when I am ready to send this card. I think this would work nicely as a card to send to a guy (and you know how hard it is to come up with ideas for masculine cards sometimes). When making this card again later today I think I'll make my squares a little smaller so more of that lovely Moss color shows!
Happy Stamping!
