"hugs and kisses" by Anne Thompson

This month it's all about hearts on our blog challenge and on our greeting cards. I made a card for today that uses the DRIFTING HEARTS STENCIL 88614 to create a soft background.

I began by taping the stencil to a piece of white cardstock with washi tape. I applied the ink with a brush, varying the amount of ink applied and not covering all of the hearts in the stencil.

Once I trimmed the paper down I brushed more ink on the edges before mounting it to a scrap of raspberry notecard and then onto a white notecard. I added raspberry ribbon tied in a bow next to the fold.

I die cut the Big Huge Premiere die twice from more of the scrap raspberry notecard, layered it with a glue pen, and adhered it to the front panel.

I wanted to add a large heart to the panel so I chose the center one from the Gilded Heart Circle.

I put foam dots on the back to pop it up off the panel a bit.

I took the phrase "hugs and kisses" from the Big and Little Valentines stamp set, cut off the word "hugs", inked it with the Raspberry Jam ink, and stamped it just below the panel.

And because I can hardly ever make just one, I made two more even simpler cards. This time I made larger heart stenciled panels which I adhered directly to colored notecards. Just a simple rinse of the stencil under warm water and I was ready to change colors.

For this one I used Memento Rose Bud ink with a raspberry notecard and ribbon. This time I applied the ink directly to the paper through the stencil using the raindrop-shaped ink pad.
