Winter Games

These playful penguins are involved in their own mini Winter Olympics and it is time for the downhill racing event!  Check out that spectator penguin on the right...he's actually inside the card as you will see.

I love the penguin in the center--he seems to be picking up speed while the one on the left is looking a little anxious about being next in line.

Penguin-Slide

Yes, this card is made from clear acetate and everything on the inside, shows through to the front.

Inside-Penguin-Slide

I die cut the penguins in black, white and orange paper.  I free-hand cut the white ones to include the tummy area only, then cut just the beaks and feet from the orange and pieced the parts onto the black penguins.

The Swirling Snowflakes were adhered to the front of the card directly onto the acetate using tape runner adhesive---carefully, so you don't pull apart the delicate snowflakes.  The adhesive showed through the acetate on the inside of the card so I cut another Swirling Snowflakes and adhered it inside, directly matching up with the one on the front.  Now when the card is open the adhesive is covered up!  Much prettier and neater.

On the inside, I added a panel of distress dots Bluebird paper and I free-form cut the snow landscape. The third penguin was positioned so he would appear to be standing atop the show drift on both the inside and front of the card.

Next, die cut the trees (the die has 6 trees, I trimmed away two) and the tree outline, then adhered them to the snowdrift. On the front, position additional trees directly covering the inside trees.

The sentiment was stamped with permanent ink onto a vellum strip and adhered (vellum tape runner) to the inside top of the card which is hidden when the card is closed.

This was a fun card to create and here is all you will need:

Playing in the snow sure sounds good after the heat we are experiencing--it's been a very hot and humid summer, can you relate?

Happy Friday!
