Layered Poinsettia

Hope you're enjoying the blitz.  I know I have lots of new ideas to play with and love all the samples the other designers have made with the new stamps.  I chose the Believe Poinsettia Collage stamp first because it's beautiful and also because I wanted to try a technique with it.  Here's what I came up with:

Layered Poinsettia
Can you tell what paper I used to stamp the petals of the poinsettia?  It's one of the patterned papers from the 6x6 Tinsel paper pack:

DSCF0676 - Copy

Ingredients:

  • G1421 Believe Poinsettia Collage stamp
  • Tinsel 6x6 Paper pack
  • Eggshell duplex cardstock
  • Onyx Soiree Metallic Cardstock
  • Parsley note card
  • Archival black ink pad
  • Distress Pumice Stone ink pad
  • Prismacolor colored pencils
  • Gold glitter and glue

Stamp the Poinsettia collage with black ink onto the eggshell cardstock.  Trim and set aside.  Ink just the petals of the poinsettia and stamp three times onto the Tinsel patterned paper with black ink.  Using a red colored pencil outline the veins on the petals.  Trim around the petals - first the center of the poinsettia, next the middle petals, and last the entire head of the poinsettia.  Color the leaves of the poinsettia with shades of green colored pencil.  Attach the flower head to the stamped collage piece.  Using pop dots attach the middle petals.  Attach the center petals with another pop dot - so you have a three dimensional flower head.  Put glue in the center and sprinkle on gold glitter.  Sponge the edges of the collage with pumice stone ink.  Attach the onyx metallic layer behind the collage and place those layers on the Parsley notecard.  By using the patterned paper, you have a head start on your coloring.  Hope you can see the dimension on the flower.

Keep checking back for more ideas and more chances to win!  Good luck!
