No card this post! Instead I went back to my scrapbooking roots and made a few projects using Memory Box's new 12" x 12" papers. These papers are so beautiful and require very little in the way of embellishments to make them stand out.
My first project is this 8" x 8" mini layout that hangs from a sheer white ribbon. Since this piece was being made to hang on the wall, I adhered the Evergreen Bough paper to a chipboard base for stability. The picture and "frames" were cut using three graduated sizes from the Sizzix Labels 8 die cut set - the largest red frame was cut from a 6" x 6" piece of paper from the Mistletoe paper pack. Each layer was slightly distressed with Olive Green ink.
The flowers were also cut using a Sizzix die and a 12" x 12" sheet of Poinsettia Birds. After cutting the flowers, they were given a coat of Smooch's Pearlized Moonlight ink. Don't you think it makes them appear to be slightly frosted? The edges were curled under for dimension. Some people roll the edges around a pencil, paint brush or chopstick, but I just work them with my fingers until I get a shape that looks nice. I think I do that because I really like how paper feels in my hand when I'm working with it. I have to admit I can't walk through a craft store (or a fabric store) without running my hannds along the papers and fabrics!! I just can't stop myself! lol!
A white brad and a gold mesh ribbon adds the finishing touch to the larger flower, while a tiny red jewel dresses up the smaller flower.
Once everything was completed, the last thing to do was punch holes in the upper corners using the Crop-O-Dile. The sheer white ribbon was pulled from back to front through the holes and tied in a knot.
