Hi everyone! The Halloween blog blitz is in full swing with lots of fun inspiration!
The Whimsy characters are ... well, they're just real characters! I chose to use the Whimsy Bat and the Whimsy Ghost in the composition of my Halloween card today.
I started with a piece of white card stock cut to 3-3/4" x 5", and then die cut one of the smaller circles from the Circle Basics set of dies from light weight paper. Using the opening as stencil, I sponged on Scattered Straw to create the moon. I then masked that off with the die cut circle and began sponging on Black Soot Distress Ink, a little darker at the top and with a lighter touch moving downward, also adding a few smudges over the moon. On top of that, I sponged on Dusty Concord, again lightening the intensity moving downward. I then splattered Dusty Concord on the background.
Next I die cut three Whimsy Ghosts from white card stock, and the Whimsy Bat from black card stock. I lightly sponged Black Soot around the edges of each ghost for definition, and added a piece of black card stock to the backs of each of the ghosts, with a dot of white for the eyes. I filled in the ties on the ghosts with purple glitter (although it's a little hard to see in the picture), and used the same purple glitter on the bat's wings. I added a piece of white card stock behind the bat's eyes and added black dots for its eyes. I die cut two of the Woodland Branch from black card stock, and snipped away a part of one so they would look different. The little specks you see on the ghosts are from the glitter ... couldn't seem to control it!!
I then arranged the ghosts into the branch limbs as shown. Foam tape was added to the backs of the ghosts and the bat and then adhered. I die cut the little "boo" word from black card stock and added it where shown. To finish the card, I added some of the Fairy Sparkle sequins from Birch Press Design.
