Spook House
Geez Halloween is the new Christmas these days! A big deal is made of it. People go all out with decorations, I have staff asking for the day off. (they can't understand why it isn't a paid holiday!) And yeah people are sending cards. I have to say I have jumped on the bandwagon. I send Halloween cards.
I think of Halloween as the lead in to all the big winter holidays and gets you ready for all the crafting to be done after spending the summer loafing and being out doors!
Spook House uses 3 of Memory Boxes great Halloween stamps. The technique is pure Michelle Zindorf. Michelle is to brayers what Dave is to colored pencils. I was lucky to take 2 brayer classes from Michelle over the weekend and she didn't disappoint.
As soon as I got home I knew I had to try out my new techniques with Memory Boxes Halloween stamps.
I will try to give you a tutorial but you really need to take a class.
Here are the basic supplies you need.
Stamp Vintage Halloween Words G1802 with a versamark pad and emboss with clear powder.
Stamp Haunted Mansion E1801 and Harvest Moon G1804 with black dye ink. Color the windows with a yellow maker and cover the windows with a versamark pen and emboss with clear ink. (you are basically making a resist over the windows.)
Place a mask over the moon and brayer the upper 2/3 of the card with pumpkin pie ink.
Next clean your brayer and brayer over the top of the pumpkin ink with elegant eggplant. Do not completely cover the orange ink.
Remove the mask and lightly sponge more mustard ink over the moon and add a wee bit of eggplant for cloud cover.
Next sponge wild wasabi ink over the lower third of the card. The vintage words will appear magically!
Sponge eggplant over the bottom fourth of the card leaving some green to show. This will really pop you vintage words.
Almost done. Tear a piece of scrap and lay across the card card to create a horizon line and sponge across paper with green ink.
Lastly with a white gel pen add some light lines to the haunted mansion.
Mount your card on to card stock. Do not get to fussy, the card speaks for itself.
I hope you will get out your brayer and try some of these techniques.
