Snowy Tree Deer Card

Hello Everyone!

I love this time of the year....making cards for Christmas, the holiday season is beginning, people are happy...

IMG_7793-2

Christmas Trees with snow on them make me a happy girl so I just love this card made by Theresa one of our teachers here at The Stamp Addict. She will be teaching this card along with several others in November classes here in San Diego so if you get the chance check out our calendar and come take the class!

IMG_7793

In the card she used the Snowy Tree Die and the Deer Trio Die and just cut off the big deer (I am sure she will use him on another card!). I think the card looks fantastic! She used white shimmer cardstock for the snow and with the embossed look you get with the die it just comes out FANTASTIC! I love the little pearl accents she used as well!

Good morning everyone!  I hope your weekend has been going well.

We had another great day of Memory Box classes yesterday at Simple Pleasures Stamp and Scrapbooking store in gorgeous Colorado Springs.  A big thank you to all of the fabulous students and for their continued support of the Memory Box awesomeness.

One of the five cards made in yesterday's class was using the wonderful new die called Woodland Tree Silhouette.

Deer

I created a winter scene using the Woodland Tree Silhouette, the Classic Deer die cut and stamped the Darling Doe (E1986) in Memento Desert sand. I left off a sentiment so the card would be appropriate for a variety of occasions.

The blue bird is the Small Flock of Doves.  The snow was created using Art Glitter glue and clear glitter.

Thanks for visiting today, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

MB gift bag 1

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to day 1 of our Winter release blog blitz.  Now through Friday, there will be two posts a day featuring the dies and stencils of the Winter 2014 release.

Today I'm featuring the new Forest Pine Branch Die. Be sure to leave a comment at the end of this post for a chance to win this fabulous die.

MB gift bag 2

Instead of a card today, I thought I would make a small gift pouch. I love these printed bags you can find in all the craft stores. This could be used as a gift card holder or a little treat bag.

Instructions:

  1. Die cut the Forest Pine Branch 3 times using Juniper cardstock.
  2. Cut a strip of Crimson cardstock and emboss it using the Large Snowflake Stencil. To emboss cardstock using a stencil you follow the same sandwich as if you were embossing using a die.
  3. Rub a White dye based ink pad over the embossed snowflakes.
  4. Trim the embossed cardstock and another piece of pattered cardstock to create banners.
  5. Adhere the banners to the front of the bag.
  6. Trim a strip of White cardstock to cover the top of the bag.
  7. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the White cardstock.
  8. Glue Pine Branches in place.
  9. Glue ribbon in place.
  10. Stamp saying on White cardstock and create a banner. Attach saying to bag.

I hope you enjoyed this project!

Memory Box products used:

  • Forest Pine Branch Die  #98909
  • Large Snowflake Stencil #88586
  • Merry Little Xmas Stamp #B1943
  • Crimson, Juniper, White and Cranberry Gingham Cardstock

Thanks again for visiting and enjoy this week's blog posts. Remember to leave a comment to each designer post this week for a chance to win some new products.  You have until 11pm EST on Sunday, Oct 26th to leave your comments.  Winners will be announce on Monday, October 27th.  Good luck!

Welcome to Day One of the Blog Blitz featuring the newest Winter 2014 Memory Box Collection!  This afternoon I am featuring the Woodland Tree Silhouette Die No. 98969 on several cards.

IMG_1355

IMG_1366

Materials Used:

  • Woodland Tree Silhouette die No. 98969
  • Frosted Vine Border die No. 98993
  • Merry Chrsitmas stamp B2019
  • white cardstock
  • Russian Sage notecard
  • from Imagine Crafts--Memento Luxe Wedding Dress ink, White embossing powder
  • small circle punch (for the moon)

Stamping and embossing the sentiment really makes it pop against the dimensional die cuts.

IMG_1357

For this card, I used the same basic materials but changed the stamp, using the Vintage Christmas Words G1797, stamped in the Wedding Dress ink and embossed with the White Imagine Crafts embossing powder.

IMG_1369

Then I started thinking about how this might make a good fall/Halloween tree so I went through my stamps to find one that would coordinate.  Voila! Web and Willows F1799!  For this first card I inked up the stamp using my Memento pens Tuxedo Black, New Sprout, and Bamboo Leaves and a Sage notecard.  I added just a bit of the Imagine Crafts Clear embossing powder on the web and a few of the leaves.  I die cut the Woodland Tree Silhouette from Dill cardstock and punched the moon from a scrap of the Squash Distressed Dots paper.

IMG_1365

IMG_1379

On this White notecard, I used the Woodland Tree Silhouette die cut from Vanilla Bean Moroccan paper with a Mango Gingham moon.

 IMG_1361

This last card features a silver moon made by smooshing Delicata Shilvery Shimmer ink onto a scrap of white cardstock before embossing it with Imagine Crafts Silver embossing powder and punching out the circle.  The Woodland Tree Silhouette in Black cardstock makes the perfect shadowy tree on a Dove gray notecard.

Welcome to Day Two of the Memory Box Blog Blitz for the second half of the 2014 Holiday release!

The blitz extends through Friday with two posts per day. You have until 11:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 26th, to leave comments, from which winners will be randomly drawn and announced on Monday, October 27th.

I made two cards because I'm so enjoying the Woodland Tree Silhouette die. The first card was originally made for my guest designer spot at Simon Says Stamp last week, but then I found out they didn't have the Merry Christmas to All die in stock, so I had to change things up a bit.

So, for your viewing pleasure, I give you my original Merry Christmas in silver (even though in this light it looks green - see the second picture for its true color):

2014-10-10---MB---Merry-Xmas
Silver Merry Christmas: Cardstock: 110 lb (Neenah), wine and silver shimmer; Dies: Woodland Tree Silhouette, Merry Christmas to All, Alphabet Soup, Resting Birds (Memory Box); Stencil: Winter Tiny Snowflakes (Memory Box); Inks: Silvery Shimmer Delicata, Silver Encore Ultimate Metallic (Imagine Crafts); Gems (Mark Richards); Other: foam dimensional squares; Tools: Ink Blusher sponges (Imagine Crafts)

10-09-14 MB for SSS 7

And Merry Christmas in lilac (again, the lighting is much better for picture number 2):

2014-10-19-MB-Merry-Xmas
Lilac Merry Christmas: Cardstock: 110 lb (Neenah), shimmer, "mirror"; Dies: Woodland Tree Silhouette, Merry Christmas to All, Alphabet Soup, Precious Ornaments, Ho Ho Holly Leaves (Memory Box); Pearls (Reflections); Sequins (Cartwright)

  1. Make 4.25" x 5.5" card base with horizontal fold.

  3. Die cut Woodland Tree Silhouette and adhere.
  4. Die cut letters from Alphabet Soup and snip "Christmas" from Merry Christmas to All; adhere to bottom of card.
  5. For silver card: die cut birds and adhere with dimensional tape. For lilac card: die cut and adhere ornament and holly leaves.
  6. For silver card: adhere gems. For lilac card: adhere sequins and pearls.

  • If you don't have silver shimmer cardstock, apply Delicata Shimmery Silver ink directly to the paper and heat set - it's identical to shimmer paper.
  • Use the tips of your detail scissors to cut out words to stretch your dies' versatility! ("Christmas" was snipped from the rest of the die cut below.)

Don't forget we're having two posts per day (check back later today to see what amazing project our Pam's devised). AND don't forget to leave comments on the designer posts this week for a chance to win prizes.

Hi everyone! Pam here...welcome to another Memory Box Blog Blitz post! Are you enjoying all the new dies from Memory Box this year? WOW! I am! So easy to create festive and fun cards with Memory Box products!

The Blitz started yesterday, Monday the 20th and will go through Friday. You have until 11:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 26th, to leave comments on all the posts. The winners will be randomly drawn and announced on Monday, October 27th. Good Luck!  Comment on my post for a chance to win the Snowy Tree die!

I'm sharing a card I made with the technique I introduced in my last video, Embedded Die Cuts, HERE and the beautiful new Snowy Tree dieLove it!

I also used the Beloved Snowflakes die and placed it at the bottom of the card. When you die cut it, there are extra snowflakes!  I used the extras, dots from the waste and a piece that I cut off to create the snowy background.

The swag like snowflakes toward the top of the tree are cut from the inside of the Sparkling Tree Tile die and glued on. So instead of strings of lights... you have a few strings of snowflakes!

It was fun to put unusual colors together.  I used Memory Box White, Sage and Sky A-2 Notecards.

I also wanted to share some photos from two classes I taught on Sunday at Scrapmania in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Polar Bear Cuteness

IMG_0538

Hi everyone!  Is anyone else a big fan of polar bears?  I just love them for Winter cards.  I knew that I wanted to do something with the new Bundled Bear die (98947) for the new release blog blitz:

IMG_0531

To make this card, I started with a blue notecard and taped the brand new Texture Scraped Paint stencil on top (88584).  I then added a light layer of light molding paste, but really, you could use any of your favorite texture pastes:

IMG_0532

Next, I added some glitter while the paste was still wet:

IMG_0534

When the paste and glitter were dry, I lightly glued the outline of the bear onto the card.  Notice I didn't glue it perfectly.  I wanted an outline to guide me where to glue all the bear parts, but I wanted to leave myself some "wiggle" room in case I wanted to move the outline around a bit:

IMG_0537

To finish the card, I added the Merry and Bright saying B2005.

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win the new Bundled Bear die.  You have until 11pm EST on Sunday, Oct 26th to leave your comment.  Winners will be announced on Monday, October 27th.  Good luck!

Grateful - Woodland Tree Silhouette

Good Morning, It's Marnie today I have for you a card using the Woodland Tree Silhouette 98969.  This really is the most versatile die and it cuts beautifully out of so many materials.  Today for the background I have used strips of fall colored card stock in 0.5 inch strips and layered the Woodland Tree Silhouette over it.  Once it was complete I used the Script Lowercase Alphabet 98896 to add the word "grateful" to the card, in Gold Mirror Card.  This would be so perfect for Fall or Thanksgiving Cards.  This is also a wonderful way to used up scraps too and you could change the theme according to what you have on hand or what type of card you need.  Hope you get a chance to give it a try!  Have a Wonderful Day!

Let it snow!

IMG_1162

Hi everyone! Have you been enjoying our blog blitz? The Memory Box team has out done themselves this blitz! I hope I can keep up the momentum.

I always am thrilled when I come up with an idea that can be easily reproduced in a variety of ways. This blueprint with a tag on a plain card base can be made in any number of ways.

My tag cards use two new products just released by Memory Box. The winter large snowflakes stencil and the die- let it snow clouds

1_310856_FSA207916148d6ba9ffaa052_m

So how did I make these cards you ask? I free cut a tag shape and sponged  MenentoLUXE inks on to the tag with the snowflake stencil. I used summer sky, angel pink, pear tart and toffee crunch. Next I tried something everyone has been doing but I have been late to the party on this technique. I placed the stencil over the tag so the snowflakes are covering open spots and using theshimmer creative medium from Imagine Crafts.

Unknown

I spread the medium through the stencil with a palette knife and carefully removed the stencil. while the medium was still wet I sprinkled glitter on the tag. While the tag was drying I die cut the let it snow die and just used the words.

IMG_1185    IMG_1180

IMG_1175  IMG_1170

When the tag was dry, I attached the "let it snow" sentiment. Lastly, I adhered it to my base card with foam tape and added matching ribbons and some of the ever popular sequins. Why you ask? Because you can never have enough sparkle!

Here is another view, so you can appreciate the glittery snowflakes on this fun card.

I hope you like this clean and simple tag cards. Let me know how you would interpret this blueprint.

Be sure to keep coming back for more creative inspiration from the design team.

'Morning Crafty Friends,

Have you been enjoying the blog blitz this week featuring dies and stencils from the new Memory Box Winter 2014 release?

This morning's feature die is the Pinecone Frame---all together now...Oooo-ahhh.  It's a beauty and today I want to share two cards using it in different directions.

IMG_7698

This is one of those dies that removes the main design leaving "negative" space.  So that means whatever color is behind the top layer will show through and define the design.  I used a dark brown paper behind the die cut to give it contrast.

This is what the die looks like when you take it out of the package:

98971

For the card above, I flipped the paper over after die cutting it.  The branch decends from the upper right corner. Now, here's another version using the same die but this time without flipping the die cut paper over.  The branch decends from the upper left corner.

IMG_7696 copy

So you can go either way--lefty or righty.

Both cards were watercolored (then dried), distress inked (then dried), stenciled or stamped (yep, dried again), spritzed with paint--then finally, dried. The pine needles (cut from green and kraft paper) were adhered with glossy accents.  The Give Thanks sentiment was added to the Teramo label and tied with natural colored twine around the front panel.

IMG_7685

Just to remind you, Shelby will be posting right here this afternoon--don't miss it!  So if you like what you see and are feeling lucky, be sure to join in by leaving a comment--which will automatically enter your name in our special drawing for the Pinecone Frame die.

You have until 11pm EST on Sunday, Oct 26th to leave comments.  Winners will be announced on the blog Monday, October 27th.  Good Luck to all!

I hope you've all been enjoying the amazing creations from my uber talented teammates using the newly released dies and stencils! You can find all of the newly released dies and stencils HERE

I'm the last post for the blitz, but you have until 11pm EST Sunday October 26th to leave comments on the posts for a chance to win.  The winners will be announced on Monday October 27th.  Good luck to everyone.

Letitsnow3

I've used a couple of the fabulous new dies and a new stencil.  The dies Frosted Vine Border, Let it Snow Clouds and stencil Tiny Snowflakes

98993

I used a heavy acetate for the base of the card (A2).  I used Brusho water color crystals in blue to create the background on watercolor paper and then used the Tiny Snowflake stencil with silver embossing paste.  I used silver mirror cardstock for the die cuts.  That makes for some tricky photography:)

Letitsnow4

I recut the Let it Snow Clouds in white cardstock and inlaid just the words into the clouds.  The Frosted Vine Border was used on the inside of the card and cut down to fit the width of the card and the bottom portion was trimmed to the height I wanted for this design.

I didn't want to waste any of the very pretty silver cardstock I had just cut into, and the Let it Snow Clouds creates the words separately, so perfect for making another card without switching out materials!

Letitsnow1

Again, I cut the Frosted Vine Border from the silver cardstock, the words from the Let it Snow Clouds (that was cut from the previous card) and used the silver embossing paste with the Tiny Snowflakes stencil.  I used a couple of different red Brusho crystals for the background colors.

Letitsnow2

I used the stencil and the paste on the acetate in this design whereas in the last card I used the stencil and paste on the watercolor paper.  One little tip I can pass along from my learning process with these cards...when using acetate as the cardbase, it's better to use a dry adhesive to adhere your paper and die cuts especially with the larger piece of watercolor paper.  Even with thick acetate, the liquid adhesive will tend to curl the acetate as it dries!

Thanks for swinging by today and good luck to everyone.  Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win the Frosted Vine Border...remember the more posts you comment on, the greater your chances are for being a lucky winner!

Christmas Tags!

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited about the 10 Tags of Christmas classes that our teacher Annelvira Uberti will be teaching on Nov. 1 and 5 at The Stamp Addict in San Diego! She is going to us all Memory Box stamps and dies with a few Poppystamps thrown in for fun here and there, since they accent each other so well!

DSCN2056

I love what she does here with the Traditional Ornament die and the Lydia Ornament die. Add a few pearls and beautiful ribbon and you have a wonderful tag to put on any gift!

DSCN2051

In this next tag she uses the Glowing Candles die and some wonderful ribbon plus alcohol inks, glitter and gems to finish off the tag. The special touch I LOVE in this tag is the way she embossed the candles to make them look like melting wax! Sorry about the blur in the photo but it was the only way to show that melting wax effect...the rest of the tag had to be a bit blurry.

Anyway, Annelvira is teaching 10 tags in this one class....all large enough to be used as cardfronts but made to be used as beautiful tags for those "Special" gifts you are going to be giving this holiday season! Feel free to give us a call and reserve a seat in one of her classes, we would love to see your smiling faces!

Good morning Memory Box fans!  I hope you enjoyed the blog blitz showing off the new dies and stencils.  There is still time to leave comments on the different blog blitz posts for a chance to win some of the new dies/stencils.

Autumn is definitely in full swing in Colorado with an array of gorgeous colorful foliage along with warm days with loads of sunshine.

Autumntrees

This Autumn card is a take on a card we did in class last weekend to celebrate the awesomeness of Fall.  The leaves and background on the trees were done with deli paper (glued to white cardstock with modge podge) and then colored with a variety of distressed inks.  This technique makes for beautiful leaves with the crinkling of the deli paper and the blending of the different distressed inks and definitely creates the look of no two leaves looking the same!  The leaves at the bottom were cut from the die Marvelous Maples leaves multiple times and layered.

Autumntrees2

The sentiment was stamped with brown StazOn onto acetate and the attached with glue dots.

"Amate" Paper Card featuring Imagine Crafts Products

Hello Dear Memory Box Fans:

Here Bibiana....with an "Amate paper card"!

Memory Box, all through this week at the 3 blogs,

is featuring  "Imagine Crafts Products" ....

Here is my take...

a TUTORIAL on how to make

a "Faux - Amate" paper card

using "Memory Box" and "Imagine Crafts" products

Amate flower front

But Let's have 1st a word about "Imagine Crafts"...
It is difficult not to know "Imagine Crafts" products...you may be more familiar with the name "Tsukineko", "Imagine Crafts" is their "new" name...but they  carry the same products (inks and craft accessories) that we all know such as: "Stazon", "Versamark Ink", "Versacolor",  "Versafine", "Brilliance" and many many more...
They have added some great NEW ones, such as "Memento Luxe", "Delicata" inks and all the "Radiant Neon Pigment Inks" among many more...

Here are the supplies using Memory Box products along with some "Imagine Crafts" inks...

Amate flower supplies

If you want to check out my other takes for the language blogs:
I have 2 other projects made using both company products...

1- To see my "Tuscan, afternoon card"
go to the French blog: "Un brin de Créativité"

2- To see my "Acetate Ornament Snow globe card"
go to the Spanish blog: "A Crear se Dijo!"

As for my project here today,  to better understand my post, I have to talk ...

 1st,  about the Name:

what is "AMATE"?

"Amate" is an adapted word used in Spanish from the Nahuatl language (from the Aztecs). It is a form of paper that it has being produced in Mexico since the Pre-Hispanic times. It was and still IS handmade by the "Otomi" indians of Mexico. Back in the Pre-Columbian times  these were used to paint codices depicting stories, events or astrology.
Nowadays we can purchased them in any craft market in Mexico and they depict colorful nature scenes.

Here is one that I have ...

The paper is made from the bark of the fig tree giving unique shades of color and pattern to each sheet...see detail below...

and this frame made with "Amate" paper

was the inspiration for my card and for this tutorial...

How to make "Faux-Amate" paper...

Let's go step by step....

1- Take some brown wrapping paper, wet it, crumple it into a ball, open it, let it dry!

2- Add "Memento inks" in "rich cocoa" and "desert sand" shades directly onto the paper
This is how it looks...

3- Place and secure the "Memory Box- Bloom" stencil over it and sponge with "Inkblushers" sponges the "VersaColor" ink in "Lapislazuli" color
note: these inks are pigment, very juicy, vibrant and great for this technique!

4- Wash the stencil as you will use it next...
In a tray, place it flat under the sink and brush it with a nailbrush using mild  hand soap.

5- Dry the stencil by placing it flat inside a roll of paper towels...

6- Place and secure back the "bloom stencil" and place inside the "Brilliant Peony". sponge the center with "Memento Luxe" in white using the "Inkblushers" sponges.

7- Outline with a black marker the edges, doodle some designs as well...
and with white acrylic ink add dots

8-Final look...

9- Add "faux" stitching with white acrylic paint and a pattern tracing wheel (used for "quilts") along the 4 edges

10- Mount the final project on some cardstock...

Here is how I store all my "VersaColor" cubes and "Memento" ink dew drops...

And here we are...

Welcome to another kind of Blog Blitz! This week the design team will be posting Memory Box inspiration but with a slight twist.  All the designers will also be incorporating products from Imagine Crafts in their projects.  The Artists in Restidence over at Imagine Crafts did a phenomenal job on their blog using Memory Box products, and we are returning the favor.

I'm featuring these products from IMAGINE CRAFTS:

  • IrRESISTible Colored Texture Spray in Wedding Dress (white)
  • Kaleidacolor Raised Rainblow Dye Inkpad in Fresh Greens
  • Jumbo Dauber
  • Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Silver

For the Small Forest Pines card I used the Fresh Greens Kaleidacolor Inkpad.

This is what Kaeidacolor Ink looks like when you open the case:

There's a tab to slide the inks together to create a rainbow pad before inking up your stamp. (Just slide them apart again for storing the inkpad.)

I used Memory Box stamp SMALL FOREST PINE stamp D2011, with the top of the tree placed on the lightest green, reinking the stamp each time to add four trees to the front of a white notecard.  I then used a Jumbo Dauber to add more of the inks around the edge of the card and in the sky area.

I used a light spray of the Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Silver for the next layer.  This adds a nice sparkly sheen.

The final layer is IrRESISTible Spray in Wedding Dress for more shine and dimension.

This is my new favorite snow!!!

So, of course, I never stop at just one card!  The WOODLAND TREE SILHOUETTE die no. 98969 was just begging to be in a snowstorm:

And then the FROSTED VINE BORDER die no. 98993 had to be frosted!  I started by spraying the front of a Russian Sage notecard before diecutting the Frosted Vine Border:

Placing the die on the card front at an angle left this great look for the finished card:

All I need to do is stamp a sentiment on the white inside of the card, either hiding under the snowy blue or out in the open.

I made even more cards once I finished these, using the Gold IrRESISTible spray.  I just love the shine and the dimension these sprays add to a card!

I hope you'll get a chance to try some of the great products at Imagine Crafts!

Happy Crafting!
